Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves. What is a local move? This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state. What is an intrastate move? This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state. Should I disassemble my furniture before the move? You can do this if you have time, but it’s not required. If your movers need to dismantle any furniture, they will reassemble it in your new home. How long will it take me to move? Your actual move will depend on many factors including the weather conditions, size of your shipment, time of year, distance to your destination and time required for loading and unloading. What is in interstate move? This refers to a move to another state where you cross another state’s border. Will my movers clean my home once my move is complete? Most professional movers will clean up any mess they have made during the actual move. However, they don’t perform general house cleaning so you must hire a professional cleaning service or perform this task yourself. What are the options for coverage of any lost or damaged items during transit? You can choose your type and level of protection from the following: cash value liability, full replacement liability or weight based liability. What should I do if one of my items is damaged during the move? Professional movers and packers do their best to ensure all your belongings arrive safely to your destination. However, damage sometimes occurs. In this case, please email or call your moving company as soon as possible with the details. What should I do with the food in my fridge? You must empty your refrigerator before moving it, so we recommend transporting your food and other perishables in a cooler during your move. Do I need to provide lunch for my movers? Your moving professionals will need to eat at some point during the day. You don’t need to provide lunch, although doing so will reduce the time they require to drive to and from a local restaurant which will save you money. Am I guaranteed that my online move estimate will be 100% accurate? Additional moving costs may be required by any moving company so you may need to pay extra at the end of your move. However, the more details you provide beforehand, the more accurate your quote will be. What is overflow? Movers may have to leave some of your belongings behind if there is insufficient space in the moving van or truck. If this is the case, make sure to leave the least essential items for the next truck that will be heading to your area. |
